Kevin Himmelrick for Brooke County Commissioner

Kevin Himmelrick is a dedicated public servant with a long history of leadership and community commitment in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.

For over three decades, Kevin has proudly served the residents of the region through his work in public safety — most recently as Fire Chief of the City of Weirton, a position he has held after rising through the ranks over a 42-year career in the fire service. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in his teens, following in the footsteps of his father, and has continually demonstrated courage, integrity, and a commitment to protecting his neighbors throughout his career.

As Fire Chief, Kevin has focused on enhancing emergency response capabilities, securing modern equipment, and building strong relationships between first responders and the communities they serve. His leadership has been marked by collaboration with city officials, fellow first responders, and volunteers to improve public safety outcomes while upholding clear standards of accountability, fairness, and ethical decision-making.

Public safety will always be a top priority. Through his decades-long career in emergency services, Kevin has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing fire, law enforcement, and EMS agencies. He knows firsthand what first responders need to do their jobs safely and effectively, and he is committed to ensuring they have the proper resources, training, and support necessary to protect Brooke County’s residents.

Kevin’s deep roots in the community give him a personal understanding of the needs and aspirations of Brooke County’s citizens. He is committed to using his experience in management, budgeting, and intergovernmental cooperation to tackle the most pressing issues facing the county — from supporting efficient county services and infrastructure improvements to fostering economic growth and development and ensuring fiscal responsibility. He believes public trust is built through transparent government, fair hiring and contracting practices, and clear ethical standards, and he is committed to listening to all citizens to ensure county government remains open, responsive, and accountable.

A lifelong resident of the Northern Panhandle region, Kevin combines practical experience with a servant’s heart, prioritizing honest leadership and a transparent, responsive county government that works for everyone. He and his wife are proud to make their home in Brooke County, where they are raising their child and investing in the future of the community they love.
